2017 LAND ROVER DEFENDER 2.2 TDCI XS 110 DOUBLE CAB PICK UP CHELSEA WIDE TRACK REVIEW

The Land Rover Defender is an iconic part of British motoring history and it was a sad moment when Land Rover stopped production in 2016. Fortunately, coachbuilding companies like Chelsea Truck Company bought the remaining stock to be customised and turned into a more luxurious version. One of the most popular models to receive this treatment by Afzal Kahn is the Double Cab Pick Up which features a number of bespoke fittings.

Styling on the Defender receives a well-deserved upgrade that makes it look more aggressive and imposing than the understated standard model. The original front end has been replaced with a smoother, more stylish design that accentuates the Defender’s rugged character. The most eye-catching addition is the facelifted X-Lander front grille which features embossed headlight surrounds and more sporty middle section.

Chunkier front and rear wings are fitted to the SUV and feature integrated vents and bolt apertures that add to the Defender’s assertive presence. The Chelsea Truck Company’s signature Cromax paint finish lets people know this SUV is something special before it’s even close enough to the see what makes it so. Other exterior upgrades include crystal clear LED lighting, bonnet vent, 285x75x16″ Renegade tyres and a 2-inch suspension lift – rounding off this impressive vehicle.

Quilted and perforated dark red leather trim is fitted throughout the interior which looks particularly good on the front Sports GTB seats. The steering wheel, instrument cluster and door inserts are all adorned by black leather, finishing off the luxurious effect that the material has on the interior.

Yet again, the Chelsea Truck Company has managed to build on the heritage of a classic vehicle and turn it into a classy upmarket product. As the firm’s name suggests, this makes it more suitable for showing off on the streets of Chelsea than thrashing around the countryside. As a result, this Defender is the perfect addition to anyone’s fleet of high-end vehicles. Sitting just above the factory model’s price tag at £69,995 (Excl. Tax), the extra expense of these additions is definitely worthwhile if you want an SUV that’s unique and stylish.
